About Me

My name is Sophie Dinitz. I am a New York City based scenic artist, currently in the professional apprenticeship program at The Juilliard School.

After seeing my first production on stage at six years old I was in awe of the world created on stage. In high school I made it my mission to be a part of that creation, so the scene shop was my second home. I quickly became the charge artist, and learned soon after that I wanted to turn my extracurricular passion into a career.

I graduated from the Sam Fox School of Design and Visual Arts at Washington University in St Louis in 2022 where I majored in Studio Art with areas of concentration in painting and sculpture, along with a minor in Drama focused on technical theater. During my time at WashU, I immersed myself in the campus theater community. I was the resident set designer and scenic artist for Cast nā€™ Crew (a student run theater group) served as the technical director for multiple productions

I hope as you explore my portfolio and examples of my work, you are able to get a sense of my dedication and passion for scenic art and the theater community as a whole.
